Symptom Of Illness In Dog


Most dogs are eager to please their owners and have stoic personalities. They may try to conceal their symptoms of illness whenever possible. Therefore, in most cases dog owners are largely responsible for the health of their dogs and spotting symptoms of illness in dogs themselves.

Doing so will aid the progress and accurate of your vet diagnosis and help your dog to ensure that it get the correct treatment needed for him to recover fully.

Listed below are some of the dog parts you can examine for any symptoms of illnesses in your dog:

1. Dog Gums – Check the gums for any inflammation and tooth decay. Press your finger against the dog gum as a blood pressure test. Pale gums suggest anaemia, whereas a trace of yellow means that you dog may have a liver problem. Both are serious conditions that require immediate veterinary attention.

2. Dog Skin and coat – Observe your dog skin and coat color carefully, a dull coat can indicate a poor diet or even a skin health problem like parasites infestation or infection. It can also be a signal for other major diseases somewhere in the body.

3. Dog Nails – Examine your dog nails and nail bed for damages whenever you spot your dog showing signs of excessive licking or lameness. Uneven wear may mean that your dog has been favoring the use of one leg. He might just have a problem with that leg that he avoids to use. If you spot flaky nails, it indicates a metabolic disorder.

4. Dog Anal Region – Examining your dog’s rear give you clue about bowel upsets and tapeworm infestation, you should also check the anal glands.

5. Dog Genitals – A Bitch’s vulva should be check for discharge or inflammation, it could mean urinary or reproductive disorder problems. Dog’s penis and testicles should also be check for swelling, inflammation and unusual discharges.
