Dog Reproductive Problems Symptoms - Genital discharges, Swelling Glands/Testicles

Dogs are scavengers and will take every chance to eat whenever food is available. It is therefore not surprising to find out that vomiting is more common in dogs than in all other mammals. Regurgitation is also the normal way a wild bitch would feed her puppies until they can hunt and fend for themselves.

The common signs and symptoms of dog digestive disorders are projectile, bloody or painful vomiting, persistent, bloody or explosive diarrhea, constipation, weight loss or excessive weight gain, listlessness and abdominal discomfort.

Simple vomiting behavior is common and often not associated with discomfort. Dogs vomit for various reasons like over eating, eating uncommon food like grass, or even traveling in a car. But if a dog experience persistent vomiting with traces of blood, it is very serious! Gastric torsion (bloat), commonly seen in deep chested breeds cause painful vomiting and sudden swelling of the abdomen. Infections such as parvovirus, distemper and hepatitis also cause listlessness and sometimes involve bloody or projectile vomiting.

Simple diarrheas like intolerance to certain food like milk and allergies are consider mild cases with little or not much discomfort. If a dog experience explosive persistent diarrheas, this is a cause for concern and should seek veterinary treatment immediately.

Constipation may be the results of the anal glands on the either side if the anal opening becoming block or infected. It can be due to mistakenly swallowed large bones in the body or food that are hard to digest. The dog would lick or drag its rear on the ground, and be unwilling to empty its bowels.

Overeating and weight gain in dogs are common signs of overfeeding by owners and lack in exercise. If your dog is on a normal diet and put on a lot more weight, something is wrong. It can be due to an underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) slows down a dog metabolism, resulting in weight gain on a standard normal diet.
