Dogs can also act as intermediate hosts for tapeworms that can be pass on to humans. Last but not least, dogs can be infested with the more serious intestinal hookworms, whipworms and microscopic parasites that causes diarrhea.

The most common signs and symptoms of intestinal parasites are act of licking the anal region, or dragging the rear, visible worms in the faeces, pot-bellied appearance, persistent or bloody diarrhea, white grains on rear and loss of weight.

Roundworms symptoms may cause mild vomiting and diarrhea, with curled, round, pink-white worms being passed. Puppies may also acquire these worms while they are still in the mother’s womb.

Tapeworms symptoms are that the abdomen can become distended and the most common signs are that you can find small, dried eggs sacs like rice grains in the hair around the anus. Worms can also be found moving in the faeces.
