Digestive Problems - Dog Bloody Diarrhea, Treatment & Home Remedy
Simple diarrheas like intolerance to certain food like milk, allergies underactive pancreas function (chronic pancreastitis), roundworms, and emotional upsets are consider mild cases with little or not much discomfort.
It’s by and large the more serious bacterial and viral infections like salmonella, parvovirus and hepatitis that can cause your dog to experience explosive, watery diarrhea with lethargy. If your dog experience persistent bloody diarrhea, this is a cause for concern and you should seek veterinary treatment immediately.
Dog diarrhea treatment using home remedy should be use only if you believe your dog is having a simple diarrhea as mention above. Take note to never attempt to cure your dog diarrhea problems if they are serious, meaning explosive, bloody and severe.
Dogs should fast and refrain from eating food for up to twenty-four hours, but make sure that drinking water is freely available. Dog diarrhea treatment requires a diet with highly digestible protein that is also low in fat.
A bland meal like scrambled eggs or cooked white fish and chicken, together with plain boiled rice in small quantities for a day or two. Consider using low-fat cottage cheese (approx. 1/2 - 2/3 cup) to provide protein. Alternatively, you can use tofu if your dog refuses cottage cheese. Brown or white rice can be use and is an easily digestible source of carbohydrate.
When your dog show signs of recovery, gradually turn back to your dog’s normal diet. If the problem persist, or importantly start to have bloody diarrhea, consult your veterinary as soon as possible.
